Create & Configure your search form

To build a custom search form you will need to follow these simple steps:

  • Navigate to - Content > Settings > Search Forms
  • Right click 'Search Forms'
  • Select 'Create'

  • You will then be presented with the following modal, simply enter a name for your search form and then click 'Create'

  • You can now configure your search form, to learn how to configure the search form please read our 'Search Form Explained' guide
  • Once you have configured your search form , click 'Save & Publish'
  • You can now decide which pages you will display the search form on.
Assigning the search form to a web page
The search form is set within the tab 'Sidebar Search', this is configured on the Home node by default but can be changed at anytime.  Whichever search form is set here will determine the search  form used by every other web page within your website.
However every content page has its own 'Sidebar Search', you can therefore set a bespoke search per web page if required.

If you website site tree includes child pages i.e. a location tree, you can actually set a custom search form for the parent location and then all sub pages will use the search form set at the parent location.

In the example below, we have set the location 'Provence' to use the side search form, this means that by default all the sub locations will automatically use this form unless you manually override by selecting another choice of search form.
