How Do I Remove Card Surcharges?

Modified on Tue, 2 Jan, 2018 at 9:50 PM

Introduction
Payment provides are commonly set up once a client has joined i-Pro or when a client decides to move to use a different or additional payment provider. Typically these have been set up by i-Pro technical support in conjunction with individual clients. However from early 2018 the European Union has made it illegal to levy surcharges on anyone paying by card  (EU Payment Services Directive II).

Companies have until Jan 13th 2018 to comply with this ruling.

To Remove Card Charges Automatically Added by I-Pro
To check if your payment options include a automatic payment surcharge.
1) log into the CMS (umbraco)
2) Navigate to Payment Options (under Online Booking Settings)

3) Open the payment options and check to see if a payment charge has been added.

4) To remove the payment charge either replace the existing charge with 0 or  remove the number before saving and publishing.

Other Considerations
It is possible that the payment charge could be referred to in other parts of the system.
e.g. Payment information, emails and alerts.

Payment Information
To check the payment information Navigate to the "global" tab within the payment option.
If necessary modify the text. Please remember to save and publish to ensure the changes are committed.

Emails and Alerts
Please check the email/alert templates to ensure that whatever changes are made to the payment charges are reflected in the relevant templates. This will ensure that your guest receive a consistent message as well as ensuring that there is no confusion regarding whether the guest has received a surcharge.

And Finally
Consider doing a test booking to confirm all the changes that have been made are correctly reflected through the booking, email and payment processes.
